I was listening to The Country Hour on ABC radio yesterday and heard a guy speaking about the fish kills in the Darling. He was saying that part of the problem is caused by the depletion of the turtle population because of foxes. Apparently the turtles are scavenger feeders who clean up the system which therefore decreases the algae bloom frequency.
It was interesting listening. I’ll see if I can find a link to what he was saying.

I watched landline on sunday . it was very sad to see menindee lakes how it is . when i was a kid my parents would take us there and we would stay at the c/park and too see it how it is now is devastating. also for them to be shutting off the weir 32 so no flows go into the lower darling is a bad idea.
The cotton growers and mismanagement are to blame. the govt couldn't give a shit. they need real people in the govt. ones who know what is what not these ones who have never even seen a dust storm .
