The electrician is gone. He has mostly finished except for a couple of little non urgent things. Everything in the kitchen is switching on and off as required ๐ The flooring guy came to measure up today and said we are the last booking he is taking until after Christmas now. Mid next month he thought he could lay the floor. We have chosen this one www.karndean.com/en-au/floors/products/llp153-brocktonThe plasterer is coming on Sunday, when we are away, to patch and sand the holes in the ceiling where downlights were moved, so the painter will be able to get in from next week sometime. And the tiler should be in early the following week hopefully. Nearly there ๐

Itโs vinyl planks figlet, but looks and feels like timber. Iโve seen it used often on reno shows ๐

Kay, my advice on the floor is make sure you don't get a matt finish, there is a matt finish and a slight gloss finish i have the matt one here, and it is harder to sweep, and it it absorbs the colour of whatever is spilled on it, a bit porous....i spilled a couple of drops of tabasco and it took 3 soakings of bleach to remove it
apart from that, it looks good and i am glad i replaced the carpet with it, i have carpet now only in the lounge and the bedroom...i hate carpet

We're thinking of getting vinyl flooring as well, the grandchildren have scratched up the timber floor we have now.
We had decided on a colour but Barry changed his mind, of course. Me and his daughter are going to look at them tomorrow and make a decision.

Glad yours is going well, Kay.
Our brickies started today. Great!
However, the lintels to hold the bricks higher up are only galvanised steel and they have to be powder coated as well. Barry thought he'd get away with that but he can't because we're in a sea spray area (not really, the sea is miles away we just have a bog by us) and AUCKLAND COUNCIL. Even the lintel guy says it's bullshit. Anyway, we won't pass the later cladding inspection unless they're powder coated so...that wasn't in the budget. Lucky I've landed another job for the next four months to make up for these budget over runs.
If me and Barry were married I'd divorce him.

Probablythe kitchen. It has taken so long and I was very disappointed when we came back from our trip expecting it to be finished and it was still an unusable mess.
The houses, of course, we werenโt living in and the bathroom and extension were pretty easy to live around.

We've had a kitchen and bathroom makeover done in the time we've lived here (over 40 years now) Both went well, I wouldn't mind upgrading the kitchen again, but the bathroom was more recent and we love it. We planned it meticulously - even down to a tiny 3D model - and looked at dozens of spa baths before settling on the one we eventually chose. We also turned a grotty little patio into a big sunroom which is lovely in the cooler months, and added a deck on the side of it. Oh, and we had the asbestos roof replaced with colorbond.

I wanted us to have a spa bath, Penny, but Barry said no. So..maybe a spa pool then. The brickies passed their first inspection this morning. They have three. When I first went to book the inspection yesterday the first available date was the 6th November so I kept going in to our account to edit the date waiting for someone else to cancel and they did! After I had, I think it was about 3pm, I went out to them and said "So 9.20 tomorrow morning okay?" lol And they came through! I bought them all lunch today. So we don't need to powder coat the lintels we can just epoxy them, so I've sent them off for that, although I still have to fill out another minor variation form and get the draughtsman to sign it. I have to paint 500 billion weatherboards over the weekend so I'm going to bed early. Night, everyone.

I insisted on a spa bath when we did our bathroom. I love it. Epsom salts, good music, a glass of wine and my book and Iโm in heaven ๐ ๐
Youโre working hard donuts. Iโm not sure Iโd have the confidence to take on that much. I just tell people what I want and get them to do it LOL

We ended up with a big Englefield spa. We even went to the showroom and sat in it to make sure it would be big enough for the two of us. there was a moments panic when the bathroom man installed it because it only just fitted into the space allocated with a whisker to spare on either side.
