I've entitled this thread, "your poo and you" because I wanted to have a serious discussion on the benefits of composting toilets....
I'm thinking about the purchase of a new RV...(something which you may call "Caravans" in your part of the world....and it seems that alot of people are singing the benefits of installing a composting toilet rather than the old blackwater poo tanks...
Here are some testimonials...

my only experience of composting toilets is what i have seen on the tiny house shows - to me they are a bit like a kitty litter box but if you are on the road travelling your own kitty litter box would beat squatting in the bushes or hovering over other travellers waste in the public loos.
they have all been grossed out at the thought but have said it was far better than they imagined it would be and they are happy with it.
i did see an incinerating loo on a show the other night so that might be an option

I know...if you're used to a flush toilet all your life like I am...the thought of a composting toilet would seem repulsive.....but people who get them swear by them.....Especially, as you say, in tiny homes or RVs.....When the off grid options are considered I suppose they have a point.....but many people say they would not go back to the old way of pooing....
The incinerating toilets though, I've heard horror stories about.....LOL

This is one of the things (only one mind you, I have lots) that put me off caravanning. I reckon for the 70K+ it would cost me to get a nice one, I can get a shit load ( ) of nice hotel rooms, each with perfectly functioning toilets that I don’t have to even think about removing the waste from

My friend, who is of the caravanning fraternity, says they refer to the two “functions” as tea and toast. Apparently in some movable homes “tea” is fine but “toast” must be dealt with elsewhere 😂😂😂

but in this context we probably should rewrite the lyrics..... Tea for two, and two for tea....
Me for poo, and you for pee....
(Ok....I've now officially descended to pre-school humor)....

The sunmar cost over 2 grand. It's smelly. The aroma pervades the entire house. It would have been better outside. It doesn't smell like poo, but it's not a pleasant smell.
